General Information
The Department of Mathematics of the Faculty of Science and Arts at Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University was founded in May, 17, 2007. It started its normal undergraduate education in the 2008-2009 academic year, and its evening education in the 2009-2010 academic year. The department started to admit students for graduate level in the 2009-2010 academic year and for doctorate level in the 2011-2012 academic year.
The department of Mathematics offers a four-year undergraduate education program, and the language of instruction is Turkish.
Our department comprises 17 faculty members including 4 professors, 4 associate professors, 8 assistant professors and 1 research assistant.
The department is trying to offer the best educational service with its qualified researchers and academic staff. In our department, various projects supported by BAP and TUBITAK are being carried out. The lectures are performed in the classes equipped with computer systems having capacity of 45 students. Our students can use the computer laboratories during the whole day.
Qualifications / Requirements
To get an undergraduate degree in the field of Mathematics, students are required to complete all of the courses (240 ECTS credits) and have at least 2,00 CPGA (Cumulative Point Grade Avarage) out of 4,00.
Goals and Objectives
The main aim of our department is to raise qualified mathematicians who have substantial background and skills to define, explain, apply, make decisions and teach the main principles of six sub-branches of Mathematics (Analysis and Functional Theory, Algebra and Number Theory, Geometry, Fundamental of Mathematics and Logic, Topology, Applied Mathematics).
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Our graduates have the opportunity to work at public institutions such as universities, ministries, research centers, institutes, TUBITAK, DTP and TUIK. Besides these public institutions, they can also work in private sectors. Moreover, the graduates who successfully complete undergraduate program can do a master’s degree on condition that they provide the necessary conditions.
